fEast #2: Jewish-Ukrainian Night: Meet 3 young filmmakers & their films @ostPost
fEast is a new cultural event series at ostPost which aims to show the diversity of Eastern European culture. fEast showcases all kind of events which enable you to hear, see, taste and feel Eastern European culture.
The 2nd edition of fEast will present three young Jewish documentary and fiction filmmakers from Ukraine. Their three short films “Find Fix Finish”, “A Veteran’s Destiny” and “Papascha” were nominated at several international film festivals.
Each film has its own personal touch and technique but there is one thing that all films of the three filmmakers Mila, Tatjana and Diana have in common: their open question of identity. Born in Ukraine with Jewish blood and raised in Germany – a triple identity if you like. Is it a blessing or a stigmata? Is your identity what people see in you ergo identity equal stereotype? Can you choose to redefine your identity and how can it be done through art? What does it mean for the young women to be Jewish-Ukrainian filmmakers? Enjoy three touching films and join for a short discussion on the topic of triple identity afterwards.
